Microsoft is warning businesses about a known issue with Message Queuing (MSMQ) that’s causing enterprise apps and Internet Information Services (IIS) sites to fail. The problem primarily affects users with Windows 10 22H2, Windows Server 2019, and Windows Server 2016 devices that have installed specific security updates.
The issue is caused by changes to the MSMQ security model, which requires users to have write access to a directory that’s normally restricted to administrators. This can lead to “insufficient resources” errors and misleading messages about disk space or memory issues, even when sufficient resources are available.
Microsoft advises affected businesses to reach out for temporary advice on how to mitigate this issue in their environments. A workaround is available, but the company hasn’t provided a timeline for a fix yet. In the meantime, IT admins can try rolling back the updates or contacting Microsoft’s business support team for assistance.
