The American Journalism Project, More Perfect, and Press Forward have organized an event to support local news organizations like the Fort Worth Report. The gathering recognized the Fort Worth Report as an investable local news organization alongside The Texas Tribune.
Fort Worth Report CEO Chris Cobler stated that the vision calls for expanding coverage across Tarrant County, adding more cities and neighborhoods while strengthening core reporting in Fort Worth. The report has grown from six staff members to 24 since its launch in 2021.
Tarrant County funders have joined the Vision 2030 campaign, pledging almost $1 million towards a goal of $5 million over three years. The North Texas Community Foundation pledged $300,000 for a new journalist to cover Tarrant County nonprofits.
Funders such as Pete Geren, president and CEO of the Sid W. Richardson Foundation, expressed support for education reporting as a model for the state and country. They believe that local journalism is essential for making informed decisions in daily life.
The Fort Worth Report has seen significant growth, with 100,000+ newsletter subscribers and over four times as many website visitors each month. The Vision 2030 campaign aims to serve the community better for decades to come, relying on your support.
