Brown University Shooter Found Dead in New Hampshire Storage Unit

A 48-year-old Portuguese man, Claudio Neves Valente, who was suspected of killing two students and wounding nine others at Brown University, has been found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a New Hampshire storage facility. Valente, a former Brown student, is believed to have acted alone in the attacks, which occurred on Saturday and Monday.

Valente had rented a unit in the storage facility under an alias and was found with two firearms, as well as evidence that matched the scene of the crime at Providence. A person who came forward with information about Valente led authorities to his location, helping to solve the case.

The Brown University president stated that Valente was enrolled from 2000 to 2001 and had no affiliation with the university now. The investigation shifted after a connection was found between the Brown mass shooting and an attack near Boston that killed a MIT professor two days later.
