Hollywood Director’s Son Charged with Murder of Parents

Nick Reiner, 32, is charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing deaths of his parents, actor Rob Reiner and wife Michele Singer Reiner. He was set to inherit a significant portion of their estate, but the “slayer statute” means he won’t receive any inheritance if convicted.

Rob Reiner’s children, Jake, Nick, and Romy, will likely be appointed as trustees for the family trust, which would prevent them from receiving money. Defense attorney Alan Jackson has been hired to represent Nick Reiner and may argue that his client is mentally unfit due to the severity of the charges. The Reiner siblings have spoken out about their pain, calling their parents “our best friends” and asking for compassion.
