Trump Seeks Rename for Penn Station and Dulles Airport in Funding Deal

US President Donald Trump is seeking to name two major infrastructure projects after him – New York’s Penn Station and Washington’s Dulles Airport – in exchange for unfreezing $16 billion in funding, sources say. However, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer rejected the offer.

The Hudson Tunnel Project, which aims to connect New York City and New Jersey, was set to start but is currently stalled due to a freeze on funds by Trump. If the money isn’t freed up soon, around 1,000 construction jobs will be at risk. The Gateway Development Commission has filed a federal lawsuit against the Trump administration over the issue.

Schumer expressed his disapproval of Trump’s request, stating that it was unnecessary and that tens of thousands of union workers depend on the project moving forward. This is not the first time Trump has sought to have his name attached to government projects; he has already had his name added to several institutions, including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
