UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has agreed to release information about the vetting process used by the Labour Party to approve Peter Mandelson’s appointment as US ambassador in 2024, after new revelations from Jeffrey Epstein files exposed his relationship with the billionaire sex offender. The latest release of files showed that Mandelson maintained his friendship with Epstein even after serving a sentence for soliciting prostitution from a minor in 2008. The documents also suggested he received payments from Epstein and may have shared market-sensitive information with him.
Starmer apologized to victims of Epstein, saying it was a “deep and dark” relationship that he had not known about until now. He vowed to ensure all the material is published, except for sensitive documents, and ordered an urgent review of Mandelson’s contacts with Epstein while in government.
