Gateway Tunnel Funding Delayed Until Thursday Afternoon

A US District Judge in Manhattan has granted a temporary stay on restoring funding to the $16 billion Gateway rail tunnel project, temporarily halting a deadline set last week. The ruling means the federal government will not need to restore funding until 5 p.m. on Thursday. This decision comes after the states of New York and New Jersey sued the federal Department of Transportation for suspending the project’s funding four months ago. The Gateway Development Commission is seeking over $200 million in reimbursements from the federal government since the suspension began in October.
