Claude Code, the AI platform behind Anthropic, has been making waves lately. People can’t get enough of it at airports, bars, and other public spaces, wanting to take selfies with its creator. This surge in popularity is due in part to Claude’s impressive capabilities, which have made it a top contender in the AI space.
In recent months, Claude has taken the lead over OpenAI, sparking questions about what makes Anthropic’s model so special. According to data from Caliber, Anthropic’s word-of-mouth exposure increased by 13 points during this time, while OpenAI’s exposure dropped slightly.
Claude Code has also been a financial success, reaching $1 billion in revenue last November and reportedly on track to double its latest funding round to $20 billion at a valuation of $350 billion. To further solidify its position, Anthropic is releasing a new model, Opus 4.6, which promises improved speed and precision for agentic work, from coding to creating presentations.
While it’s unclear whether Claude Code can sustain its momentum, the recent surge in interest suggests that it has what it takes to stay on top of the AI game.
