Google Maps has been testing custom car icons for over a year and recently added them to the Android Auto build. A new APK teardown report suggests that the company is preparing to bring this feature to the Android Auto displays as well, allowing users to choose from 5 modern designs and 3 traditional looks. The feature was initially available on mobile devices, but now it’s likely to appear directly in the Android Auto app. No release date has been confirmed, but its existence indicates that the feature is nearing completion.
