Linux developer Linus Torvalds has announced the release of Linux 6.19, the final update in its current kernel cycle. The new version includes support for older AMD GCN 1.0 and 1.1 graphics cards using the modern AMDGPU driver, as well as Vulkan support through the RADV driver. Additionally, Linux 6.19 offers improved power management, HDR support with the DRM Color Pipeline, and expanded support for newer Intel chips. Linus also teased the upcoming Linux 7.0 kernel cycle, which may bring further improvements to AMD GPUs and display support for new Intel and Qualcomm chipsets. Users of rolling release or semi-rolling release distributions like Fedora and Arch can expect their system updates soon, while other distros may take longer.
