Former US Defense Contractor’s Boss Stole Valuable Tech for $1.3M

A former employee at a US defense contractor has been found guilty of stealing valuable hacking tools worth over $1.3 million from his employer, Trenchant. The stolen tech could have enabled government surveillance, cybercrime, and ransomware attacks across the globe. The 39-year-old Australian man, who also worked as the general manager at Trenchant, sold the tools to a Russian company that has ties to the Russian government. He faces up to nine years in prison and is expected to be deported back to Australia after serving his sentence.
