YouTube suffered a global outage on Tuesday, affecting thousands of users. The company revealed that the issue was caused by a problem with its recommendations system, which fails to display videos based on past viewing habits. Although the homepage is back, the full fix is still being worked on.
The issue has been resolved, and all platforms are functioning normally again. However, some users are still experiencing issues logging into YouTube TV. The outage was reported by over 1.6 million users worldwide, with half of those coming from the US. Some countries, like Australia, were also affected.
This is not the first major outage for YouTube in recent months, following incidents at companies like Verizon and Microsoft 365.
