4,400 Judges Rule ICE Detentions Unlawful, But Release Still Strained

The number of lawsuits against the Trump administration’s mass deportation campaign has skyrocketed since President Trump returned to office, but the federal government has continued to jail people indefinitely. Despite over 4,400 rulings by judges that deemed ICE detentions unlawful, only a fraction of these cases have been acted upon due to the rapidly shrinking staff at the Department of Justice and capacity strain on courts.
