Companies need to take steps to add more safety filters that can control inputs and instructions.
To secure AI agents, companies need to limit permissions and enforce policies, as well as implement backup systems in case of data loss. Microsoft’s Pete Bryan emphasizes the importance of observability and management for agents, allowing enterprises to act quickly to enforce policies and controls. By following security best practices such as identity-based access, least privilege permissions, and continuous monitoring, companies can mitigate data exposure and prevent AI agents from breaking security policies.
In essence, the key to securing AI agents is to adopt a defense-in-depth approach, using principles such as zero trust, least privilege, and backups to protect against errors and data loss. By doing so, companies can prevent AI agents from acting in unexpected ways and minimizing the risk of data leakage.
