Xbox President Sarah Bond Stepping Down Amid Leadership Shakeup

Sarah Bond, the first Black woman to lead Xbox as president, is leaving her executive role after nearly two-and-a-half years. Born and raised in Canada, Bond has a Harvard Business School degree and experience at top companies like McKinsey and T-Mobile. During her time at Xbox, she oversaw teams across engineering, product development, marketing, and more.

Bond’s strategy focused on evolving the gaming platform beyond traditional games. She also played a key role in finalizing Microsoft’s $68.7 billion Activision Blizzard acquisition. In her farewell announcement post, Bond expressed pride over the progress made under her leadership and acknowledged the next generation of technological advancements.

Xbox is now looking to Asha Sharma, a senior Microsoft AI executive, as its new CEO. Although some employees initially doubted Bond’s succession, she has offered her support for Sharma’s transition as special advisor to Xbox.
