Former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis will face trial on December 16 over comments he made about trying drugs, according to his left-wing party MeRA25. In a podcast, Varoufakis admitted using marijuana and ecstasy in the past, claiming it had a negative effect. He was accused of making light of his experiences during a comparison with Bill Clinton’s infamous “I didn’t inhale” comment.
Varoufakis’ comments sparked controversy, as he described trying drugs in 1989 at an Australian festival. However, he clarified that the experience had left him with a migraine, deterring him from using substances again.
