Raiders’ Special Teams Struggle Costs Team Game

Raiders coach Antonio Pierce expressed frustration with his team’s special teams performance after a 15-9 loss to an opponent. Two punts were blocked, an extra point attempt was thwarted, and the team allowed a safety by failing to fair catch a punt at the 3-yard line.

Pierce acknowledged that the special teams play was “ugly” and attributed it to a “bad day in the office.” He emphasized that his team needs all three phases of the game to work well. Despite this setback, Pierce praised his players for continuing to compete hard, describing them as a “blue-collar group.”

The Raiders were on the verge of coming back late in the game with a touchdown and extra point attempt to win. However, the outcome was ultimately not enough. Pierce admitted that he felt anxious when the ball was thrown into the end zone but ultimately fell short for his team.

The loss marks another challenge for the Raiders’ struggling team this season.
