Baltimore County High School Students Protesting Trump Administration Actions

A small group of Towson High School students held a protest outside the school on Friday morning, calling for the return of federal workers who were impacted by President Donald Trump’s administration actions. The students, some holding signs that read “Hate won’t make us great” and “stand against violence,” gathered in front of the school to express their support for federal workers who are struggling.

Thirty schools across five Maryland districts, including Towson High, participated in a statewide student walkout to protest Trump’s administration. However, some students chose not to participate due to concerns about disciplinary action from administrators.

The protesters argue that making a statement and causing disruption is necessary to reform the system and bring attention to the issue. As one student said, “By making a statement, by causing disruption, that is how we reform the system.”

Many cars passed by the protest, with some showing support (honing horns in approval) while others expressed disagreement or hostility towards the students. However, according to Kamal Simon, 16, who participated in the protest, he believes that taking a stand for what’s right and standing up against hate is important.

The student walkout follows a series of protests and rallies across the country in response to President Trump’s administration actions, particularly those affecting federal workers.
