Scientists have made the clearest case yet that one of astronomy’s strangest repeating signals comes from a likely two-star system near the Milky Way’s edge. The discovery pulls the long-running mystery out of crowded regions and into a new area where astronomers can test what is making these bursts. A team of researchers found that the source, discovered in archival observations from 2013 onward, is in the class of long-period radio transients.
