Meta is reportedly considering a massive 20% workforce cut as the tech giant tries to offset rising costs of its artificial intelligence infrastructure. The proposed layoffs would impact at least 16,000 employees, making it the company’s largest restructuring since 2022 and early 2023.
If successful, the cuts would be a significant blow to Meta, which employed nearly 79,000 people as of December 31. Amazon, another major tech company, has also recently announced large-scale layoffs tied to AI developments, citing efficiency gains from artificial intelligence and broader cultural changes.
