Samsung Laptops Struggle with Windows 11 Updates

Microsoft is investigating an issue on some Samsung laptops running Windows 11 after installing the February security updates. The problem causes users to lose access to their C:\ drive and can’t launch applications, including Outlook and web browsers.

The company is working with Samsung to figure out if the issue is related to the Windows updates or Samsung software. In some cases, permission problems prevent users from accessing files, launching apps, or performing administrative tasks.

The problem has been reported mainly in Brazil, Portugal, South Korea, and India, and mostly affects Samsung Galaxy Book 4 devices. Microsoft thinks the issue might be related to the Samsung Share app, but they haven’t confirmed it yet.

The affected systems are running Windows 11 version 25H2 or 24H2. A workaround was posted by a Reddit user claiming to be a Samsung technician in Brazil, which restores access to the C:\ drive. However, changing ownership of system files weakens Windows’ security protections, so users should avoid this workaround unless absolutely necessary.

For now, Microsoft hasn’t shared a temporary solution, but they’ll fix the issue soon.
