German Parliament Sets Stage for Early National Election

Scholz, a member of the Social Democrat party, called a confidence vote to remove Finance Minister Christian Lindner from his position. This move resulted in the loss of majority support in parliament, prompting an early election on February 23 – seven months ahead of schedule.
