Iran’s New Supreme Leader Seen as ‘Empty Entity’

Mojtaba Khamenei, the newly appointed supreme leader of Iran, is widely viewed by Israeli national security sources as an “empty entity” who lacks control over the regime. His father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in a targeted Israeli strike on February 28, and Mojtaba’s involvement with the regime has been questioned.

According to defense analyst Kobi Michael, Mojtaba does not appear to be leading the regime or its remaining forces. Instead, he seems to be “misfunctioning” due to his father’s death. The new supreme leader has not made a public appearance since being named, and instead, a message by him was read on Iranian state TV.

Iranian officials have insisted that Mojtaba is in good health, but reports suggest otherwise. His escape from death just minutes before his father’s assassination has raised eyebrows among observers.

The Israeli strikes that killed Ayatollah Khamenei and other senior officials are seen as a crucial component of the strategy to weaken the Iranian regime. Analysts believe this will prevent the regime from becoming again a severe threat in the Middle East.

Iran’s new leadership is being seen as a “continuing effort” to dismantle the regime, with US President Donald Trump having previously vowed to help bring down the Iranian government.
