US Allies Scramble as Trump’s War with Iran Escalates

The United States is on a collision course with some of its closest allies due to President Trump’s decision to launch a military strike against Iran. Long-standing allies were not informed about the battle plans until hours before the attack, and they have since publicly criticized Trump for not providing enough military help. The president has lashed out at European countries, demanding they join a military escort mission through the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump has attempted to calm tensions with Arab countries by addressing their concerns over Israeli and Iranian strikes on major energy facilities in the region. However, his claims that he had no advance knowledge of Israel’s attack on Iran’s largest gas field have been disputed by US officials.

Recent meetings with foreign leaders have also highlighted Trump’s lack of transparency. On Tuesday, an Irish leader defended UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer after Trump rebuked him for not providing more support on Iran. A week later, Trump met with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi without giving advance notice of his decision to strike Iran, prompting questions about the president’s communication strategy.
