AI-Powered ERP Startup Doss Raises $55M to Tackle Inventory Management

Doss, a cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, has raised $55 million in its Series B funding round led by Madrona and Premji Invest. The company aims to tackle the inventory management challenge faced by many AI-powered ERPs.

Unlike traditional ERPs, Doss provides an AI-native inventory management layer that integrates with existing accounting systems. This allows businesses to ensure data consistency between physical goods and accounting ledgers.

Doss’ CEO Wiley Jones explains that most AI-native ERP companies focus on accounts receivable and payable, but lack procurement and inventory management. To solve this, Doss partners with other startups like Rillet and Campfire, offering a complementary solution.

The company’s main partners include these startups, as well as Intuit’s QuickBooks. Mid-market consumer brands use Doss to manage their physical goods, with Verve Coffee Roasters being one notable customer.

While Doss competes with traditional ERPs, the market is shifting towards AI-powered solutions. The company sees itself in a high-stakes competition with other startups and legacy players like NetSuite, which recently introduced its updated AI ERP.

Doss’ CEO Wiley Jones notes that many businesses are choosing two newer systems over one complex system, making it essential for companies to rebuild their architecture for usability.
