OpenAI has made its AI-powered search engine available to all users starting today, following an initial rollout to paid subscribers in October. The new feature is now accessible at the free tier, requiring users to have an account and be logged in.
Key updates to the mobile version of ChatGPT’s search engine include enhanced visual results, with location-specific listings featuring images, ratings, and hours of operation. Users can click on a location for more information or view directions using a built-in map.
The search function has also been optimized for speed, particularly when searching for specific types of websites, such as hotel booking platforms. Instead of generating a response immediately, ChatGPT will surface links to relevant sites before providing further details.
In addition, users with paid subscriptions (ChatGPT Pro) can access Advanced Voice Mode, which automatically provides up-to-date web information. The company has also announced the launch of its text-to-image model Sora and increased subscription pricing for ChatGPT Pro, now at $200 per month.
