Apple Warns iPhone Users of Active Web Attacks

Apple is alerting users of older iPhone models to a new wave of web-based attacks targeting out-of-date iOS software. The company’s “Critical Software” notification warns that hackers are using exploit kits like “Coruna” and “DarkSword,” which can steal data by clicking on malicious links or visiting compromised websites.

To protect their devices, Apple urges users to update to the latest version of iOS. Users can do this by going to Settings, General, and Software Update. However, if updating is not possible, users can enable Lockdown Mode to block malicious web content. This feature is available on iOS 16 and later.

Devices running older versions of iOS are vulnerable to these attacks, including those running iOS 17.0. Apple recommends installing a critical update or using Lockdown Mode to safeguard their data.
