Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Suffers Mild Ankle Sprain

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been diagnosed with a mild high ankle sprain, according to Monday’s tests following Sunday’s win over the Cleveland Browns. The injury occurred when multiple defenders hit him high and low after he released an incomplete pass.

Mahomes is still expected to be week-to-week as the team prepares for two quick turnarounds in Weeks 16 and 17. Despite his uncertain status, a source claims Mahomes’ long-term prognosis will be fine.

The Chiefs face Houston Texans on December 21 and travel to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers on Christmas Day (December 25). Veteran backup Carson Wentz is poised to start if Mahomes’ ankle injury prevents him from playing in Week 16.
