Google has announced that its new Gemini for Home assistant is now available in Spanish and will replace the existing Google Assistant on Nest speakers and smart displays. This update follows an early access launch in the US in late October, where users were able to test and provide feedback.
Gemini for Home aims to make a smart home work for everyone, including kids with supervised accounts. Anish Kattukaran, Head of Product at Google, said that Gemini provides “a safe, helpful way” for children to learn and play while getting spelling help for homework or asking for jokes.
To improve the assistant’s functionality, Google is rolling out new features such as natural language prompts for controlling smart devices, faster device identification, and interactive news summaries in Gemini Live. Users can now ask follow-up questions on these summaries.
Additionally, Google has updated its Home app to take advantage of Android 16, with edge-to-edge navigation and predictive back navigation. The company also maintains a community forum where users can discuss technology topics and share their thoughts.
With this update, Gemini for Home joins the list of supported countries in Mexico alongside the US and Canada.
