Apple’s latest iOS update (26.4) now allows users to access ChatGPT through their CarPlay dashboard, enabling voice-based conversational interactions. This feature was made possible by Apple’s support for “voice-based conversational apps” in the updated operating system.
To use ChatGPT on CarPlay, simply open the app and start a voice conversation. The response format is limited to voice responses only, following Apple’s guidelines that avoid displaying text or imagery as responses. On-screen buttons are available to mute or end the conversation.
Recent conversations can be viewed by accessing the app, but users cannot utilize a wake word to initiate conversations through CarPlay – they must tap on the app to open it first.
