Orion Crew Prepares for Translunar Injection Burn

NASA’s Artemis II mission has successfully polled “Go” for the translunar injection burn, setting the stage for a historic journey around the Moon. The crew, including astronauts Reid Wiseman and Victor Glover from NASA, as well as Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen from the Canadian Space Agency, will ignite their main engine on the service module for 5 minutes and 49 seconds.

The mission aims to send humans around Earth’s closest celestial neighbor for the first time since Apollo 17 in 1972. The spacecraft is equipped with a powerful engine that can accelerate a car from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds.

On day two of their mission, the crew will begin their first full day of activities in space, including exercise sessions on the flywheel device. They are preparing for the translunar injection burn and will continue to work with the mission control team to ensure a successful journey.
