A modder named ‘kryptonfly’ has successfully booted an Intel 12 P-core Bartlett Lake CPU into Windows using a modified Asus Z790-AYW OC Wi-Fi motherboard. The process involved using the Claude AI tool to rewrite the BIOS, overcoming several hurdles including memory initialization issues and a problem with the chip failing to enter the BIOS.
The achievement marks a significant step forward in making Bartlett Lake fully functional on mainstream LGA 1700 motherboards. Kryptonfly is now exploring implementing the BIOS modifications on other boards, including the Asus Apex and Encore models.
Bartlett Lake-S CPUs feature unique high-core-count P-core-only configurations, which could potentially outperform conventional Intel desktop CPUs in niche latency-sensitive applications. However, their limitations, such as the absence of E-cores, may affect their performance in general use cases.
