In the past, two US presidents made clear their stances against one nation dominating a vital resource. George H.W. Bush said no to Saddam Hussein controlling Kuwait’s oil in 1990. Trump recently echoed similar sentiments towards Iran and its closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
