Google Android 17 Bug Removes Homescreen Widgets

Google’s latest Android 17 update has caused a problem for some users, specifically those who have upgraded to the stable version. It seems that homescreen widgets are no longer available or can be removed from the homescreen in the updated operating system. The issue was first reported through the Android 17 Beta program and has continued into the stable release.

Reports suggest that disabling the Work Profile feature resolves the problem, but temporarily fixing it is difficult. Several workarounds have been suggested, including disabling or archiving affected apps before restoring them, toggling focus mode, and updating a Work Profile setting on the management side.

Google has acknowledged the issue and confirmed that it’s a bug caused by the Work Profile, with a fix scheduled to be released in a future software update.
