NASA astronauts are exploring how living cells grow in space. On Monday, Jessica Meir worked on a Life Science Glovebox inside the Kibo laboratory module. She studied cartilage cells and how they expand in weightlessness to develop new treatments for arthritis and sports injuries.
Meir also photographed tiny particles floating in liquid in the Harmony module, which can help create advanced materials and technologies for both space and Earth industries. This research is part of astrobiology and space biology studies aboard the International Space Station.
