Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs made an immediate impact in his return from injury, catching three passes for 40 yards and two touchdowns against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night. Quarterback Jordan Love expressed relief to have Doubs back in the lineup, calling him one of their best playmakers.
Doubs put a bow on the Packers’ win with a diving 22-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter. He initially missed two games due to a concussion suffered in November against the San Francisco 49ers. To be cautious, Doubs wore a Guardian Cap for the first time during the game, but remains unsure if he will continue wearing it.
Guardian Caps, introduced in the NFL in 2020, are designed to reduce the impact of blows and head injuries. Research shows they can absorb up to 10% of the force of a hit and have reduced concussions by 52%. As Doubs is the first Packers player to wear one in a game this season, his decision may set an example for future players.
Doubs initially wore the Guardian Cap due to caution following the concussion, but does not want it to become a superstition. Whether he continues to wear the cap remains uncertain, but its protective benefits could help prevent future head injuries.
