The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft successfully undocked from the International Space Station at 11:05 a.m. EST on Tuesday, marking the end of its mission. The spacecraft will re-enter Earth’s atmosphere and make a parachute-assisted splashdown off the coast of Florida on December 17.
The Dragon spacecraft carried nearly 6,000 pounds of crew supplies, science investigations, and equipment to the space station, which arrived in orbit on November 5 after launching on a Falcon 9 rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.
NASA will not stream the splashdown but will post updates on its space station blog, available at @space_station and other social media platforms. To stay up-to-date with NASA news, subscribe to receive updates every week at www.nasa.gov/subscribe.
