Atlanta’s 15-9 win over the Las Vegas Raiders was a testament to the team’s ability to grind out victories on the road. The Falcons’ running game produced 168 yards, helping them break a four-game losing skid. Matt Ryan threw for 112 yards, a touchdown, and an interception, as the team improved to 7-7.
Coach Raheem Morris expressed his support for veteran quarterback Matt Ryan despite a struggling performance. However, Morris emphasized that Ryan needs to improve his play at the quarterback position. “He’s got to play better,” Morris said. “We’ll go back and look at everything, but he wants to play better, and we’ve got to find a way to get him to play better.”
Ryan acknowledged that he needs to up his game. “I think I do need to play better,” he said. “It’s stating the obvious, and every week you kind of go through your process and plan to go out there and play the best you can.” Ryan cited decision-making as a key area for improvement.
The Falcons’ win was largely attributed to their defense and special teams unit. The team held Las Vegas to just 15 points, and Younghoe Koo’s field goals kept Atlanta ahead throughout the game. Despite being forced to settle for field goals, the Falcons were able to hold on for the win.
With the team now sitting within a game of first-place Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC South, the Falcons will look to build on this momentum heading into their next games against the New York Giants, Washington Commanders, and Carolina Panthers.
