Red Bull has confirmed that they have parted ways with Mexican driver Sergio Pérez, bringing an end to his four-year stint with the Formula 1 team. The decision follows negotiations over Pérez’s contract, which had been on the table since the start of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend.
Pérez had signed a two-year contract extension in June but his poor form this year led Red Bull to seek alternative options. As part of the agreement, Pérez will step away from his current role and explore racing opportunities elsewhere in 2025, although all available seats are currently filled.
The news may create an opportunity for Pérez in the North American market, where he enjoys significant popularity. Formula 1 has announced plans to add a Cadillac team to its grid in 2026, which could be a possible destination for the former Red Bull driver.
Red Bull boss Christian Horner expressed gratitude towards Pérez, praising his determination and contributions to the team’s success during his time at the helm.
