FX Cancels ‘The Old Man’ After Two Seasons

FX has canceled its spy drama series “The Old Man” after two seasons, leaving fans wondering why. The show, based on Thomas Perry’s novel, followed veteran CIA operative Dan Chase as he went into hiding after killing a home intruder and worked to recover his kidnapped daughter with the help of former FBI assistant director Harold Harper.

The series starred Jeff Bridges, John Lithgow, Alia Shawkat, and Navid Negahban, and received positive reviews from critics while achieving strong viewership. Despite its success, Season 2’s audience size decreased after two years off the air, leading to the cancellation.

Creator Jonathan E. Steinberg and executive producer Dan Shotz will continue to work on new projects with the Littlefield Company and 20th Television. The cancellation of “The Old Man” has sparked disappointment among fans, who had hoped for a longer run for the show.
