Jeff Bridges’ The Old Man Canceled After Just Two Seasons

FX and Disney+ series “The Old Man” has been canceled after two seasons, according to Deadline reports. Created by Robert Levine and Jonathan E. Steinberg, the show was based on Thomas Perry’s 2017 bestseller of the same name.

Starring Jeff Bridges as Dan Chase, a former CIA man living an off-grid life, the series followed his story as his past caught up with him. Despite its quality being in question due to external factors such as a pandemic and star Bridges’ cancer treatment, the show gained praise for its character-driven storytelling, action, and Bridges’ performance.

However, the WGA strikes and production issues prevented the show from reaching its full potential. The series ultimately ended with 15 episodes over five years, making it an early casualty of the fast-paced streaming era.

Despite its cancellation, “The Old Man” went out on a high note, featuring intense action sequences, family drama, and Bridges’ impressive physical performances. Although the show’s fate was sealed, fans will remember it as a great series cut short in its prime, deserving another season to explore Dan Chase’s story further.
