Larger European countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and the UK are likely to provide the bulk of the forces. The deployment size varies depending on objectives, but estimates range from 40,000 to 100,000 personnel.
The decision hinges on Ukraine securing security guarantees through NATO membership or bilateral agreements. A similar mission in the 1990s saw deployments of around 60,000 troops in Bosnia and 50,000 in Kosovo. This move would mark a substantial commitment by Europe to stabilizing Ukraine.
