AT&T Reverts to Full-Time Office Policy for Employees

Telecom giant AT&T is joining the trend of major companies reviving their in-office work policies. Starting in January, all office workers will be required to return to the office five days a week, according to Quartz. The company had previously implemented a hybrid schedule with three days of in-office work per week.

AT&T’s spokesperson cited the need for collaboration and innovation to deliver best support for customers as the reason behind the change. This move follows similar announcements from other prominent companies such as Amazon, JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Tesla, and Walmart.

Amazon had originally planned to bring back all employees to the office full-time starting January 2, 2025, but the date has been delayed due to location preparation issues. CEO Andy Jassy’s recent statement that innovation requires in-person work sparked backlash from employees who value flexibility and remote work arrangements.

This shift is part of a broader trend among major companies, with some CEOs labeling remote work as an obstacle to innovation and collaboration. Notably, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt faced criticism for making similar remarks before walking them back.
