OpenAI has launched a new way for users to access its popular chatbot, 1-800-CHATGPT. US users can dial the number (1-800-242-8478) and get 15 minutes of free access per month. Globally, users can message the number via WhatsApp.
The move follows recent updates from OpenAI, including the official rollout of its AI video-generation tool, Sora, and a new search feature within ChatGPT. The company has also hired its first chief marketing officer to boost advertising efforts and expand its user base.
As part of an aggressive growth plan, OpenAI is competing with top tech companies like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft in the rapidly growing generative artificial intelligence market. With a valuation of $157 billion, OpenAI recently closed a funding round and received a $4 billion revolving line of credit, bringing its total liquidity to over $10 billion.
Users can call 1-800-CHATGPT without an account, but OpenAI is working on integrating WhatsApp messages with ChatGPT credentials. The tool was built just weeks ago by the company’s team.
