SpaceX successfully completed its final mission supporting the National Reconnaissance Office in 2024, marking a significant milestone for the company. The Falcon 9 rocket carrying an undisclosed number of Starshield satellites lifted off from Space Launch Complex 4 East at 5:19 a.m. PST (8:19 a.m. EST). Approximately eight minutes later, the first stage booster, B1063, landed on the SpaceX droneship ‘Of Course I Still Love You,’ marking its 22nd flight and the 114th successful landing on OCISLY.
The mission is believed to involve Starshield satellites, which are the government variant of the popular Starlink constellation. The Falcon 9 first stage booster, B1063, has made previous flights supporting NROL-113, NROL167, DART, and 14 Starlink missions, showcasing its reliability and performance capabilities.
This successful mission brings SpaceX’s total number of booster landings to 384 and solidifies the company’s reputation as a leader in satellite launch technology.
