Jay-Z’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, has stated that the rape allegations against the rapper are “provably demonstrably false” and that multiple people are willing to come forward to debunk the claims. According to reports, Spiro made these statements during a press conference at Roc Nation’s New York headquarters on Monday.
The allegations, which were filed in December by an Alabama woman who claimed Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs drugged and raped her at an after-party in 2000, have been met with skepticism. The woman has since admitted to making mistakes in her recollection of the night, but maintains that her allegations are true.
However, Spiro claims that the accuser’s story is inconsistent and that it is not possible for the alleged events to have occurred. He also stated that Jay-Z is “upset that somebody would be allowed to do this” and that he is concerned about the impact on his children and family.
In addition, Jay-Z has filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, calling the allegations a “blackmail attempt.” The lawyer for the woman who filed the lawsuit, Tony Buzbee, has responded by saying that dozens of people are willing to come forward to debunk the allegations.
The situation comes amid an avalanche of legal woes for Combs, who is facing charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Jay-Z has “nothing to do” with Combs’ case, according to Spiro.
