AAP Loses Delhi Election Due to Its Own Actions

Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi blames the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for its loss in the recent Delhi Assembly election, stating that the party’s actions over the past 10 years led to its decline. The AAP had won 62 assembly constituencies in 2020 and 67 in 2015 but saw its tally plunge to 22 with the BJP registering a landslide victory.

Bedi, who was once part of the India Against Corruption movement that catapulted Kejriwal into national limelight, said citizens were tired of the party’s governance and had grown ready for change. She attributes the AAP’s decline to issues such as infrastructure, civic services, governance, financial management, and harmony in Delhi.

Bedi hopes for a new era in Delhi, where citizens can reclaim their city and restore peace, respect, and dignity. The former lieutenant governor expressed her optimism about a transition beginning with the election results, which were unexpected but peaceful. With renewed energy to make it happen, Bedi believes that a vibrant, cleaner, and greener Delhi is possible.

The AAP broke apart after the India Against Corruption movement, with the goal of raising a strong voice against corruption and removing corrupt practices. Bedi believes this goal was achieved, despite some parties engaging in similar corrupt practices.
