Aaron Civale Traded to White Sox After Resisting Bullpen Role

The Milwaukee Brewers dealt pitcher Aaron Civale and $807,000 to the Chicago White Sox for first baseman Andrew Vaughn. This trade comes after Civale resisted a move from the starting rotation to the bullpen, citing his desire to continue pitching as a starter.

Civale, 30, is eligible for free agency after the season and has expressed frustration with being left out of the Brewers’ rotation in favor of younger players like Jacob Misiorowski. Despite being the odd man out, Civale insisted that he can still pitch effectively.

The move gives Vaughn, a 27-year-old first baseman, new opportunities as he was struggling to find his form this season. The White Sox are seeking to turn around their fortunes, having lost over 100 games in each of the past two seasons.

Civale becomes the third former Brewer to join the White Sox in recent weeks, following infielder Vinny Capra and pitcher Tyler Alexander. In other moves, the Brewers recalled right-hander Grant Anderson and outfielder Drew Avans from Triple-A Nashville.
