Aaron Glenn Tipped to Be Next Jets Coach

The New York Jets are reportedly close to hiring former NFL coach and player Aaron Glenn as their next head coach, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media. The deal is not finalized yet, but the Jets are making a strong effort to keep Glenn on board after he conducts his second interview for the position.

Glenn has a personal connection with the Jets, having played for the team from 1994 to 2001 under coach Bill Parcells. Parcells’ influence on the hiring process is also being felt, as the former general manager of the Jets, Mike Tannenbaum, is involved in the search for a new coach and general manager.

The news may come as a surprise to former Jets coach Rex Ryan, who has been actively campaigning for the job. The potential hiring of Glenn could also indicate that Commanders assistant G.M. Lance Newmark will be the next Jets general manager, given his experience with the Lions. Another possibility is Chris Spielman, current Lions executive.
