Aaron Rodgers’ time with the New York Jets appears to be coming to an end after two years of underwhelming performances. According to reports, the 41-year-old quarterback has been told by management that the team will move on from him during the offseason.
Rodgers joined the Jets in 2023 with high expectations, but his debut was marred by a torn Achilles tendon that kept him out for the rest of the season. His 2024 campaign wasn’t much better, with the team finishing 5-12 and head coach Robert Saleh fired just five games into it.
Despite being healthy throughout the season, Rodgers’ performance fell short of expectations. Jets captain CJ Mosley praised his teammate, saying he gave his all despite injuries and a tough season.
Rodgers is one of the oldest quarterbacks in the league, and his future remains uncertain. While some teams may view him as a bridge quarterback to help them draft their long-term signal-caller, others may not be willing to commit to a contract given his age.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Rams, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and New York Giants are among teams that could be interested in Rodgers’ services. However, it’s unlikely any team will offer him a long-term deal.
Rodgers is known for taking his time before making decisions about his future, having previously credited psychedelics with improving his performance on the field. Whatever he chooses to do next, he’ll undoubtedly be under scrutiny from fans and media alike.
